Nowadays, producers are more than ever stepping into the limelight as artists. Insert CardoGotWings, who originally hails from Minnesota but now resides in Fort Worth, Texas. The famed producer first gained recognition from his SoundClick, eventually joining Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang. Plus when you hear his producer tag, “Cardo Got Wannnggsss” you know it’s a banger.
Cardo’s produced all your favorite songs, including Drake’s “God’s Plan,” Travis Scott’s “Goosebumps,” Drake and Lil Durk’s “Laugh Now Cry later,” ScHoolboy Q’s “That Part,” and many more. Most recently, he teamed up with Detroit’s own Payroll Giovanni for their fourth collaborative project to date: Another Day Another Dollar.
King Ice caught up with Cardo via Zoom to discuss how jewelry makes him feel, and being allergic to silver.
Cardo: Me usually, I do my little Jesus piece that I got. I'll pull out the big boys sometimes. Just regular-degular shit, just gold. I like gold though.
You like gold over silver?
I'm allergic to silver so I can't even wear silver. It’s crazy right? So I've always been on gold.
Cardo: Not really. It's how it makes you feel. That's what it is for me, personal preference. It makes me feel like “ooh damn, I look like I sold 10 bricks. Damn I look good.” I like how the chain makes me feel, it boosts my confidence. Damn man, you dreamed of this when you was a kid. Look at you, living. It's how it makes you feel. It's a feeling. It's not a necessity, or a want or material shit. It's how the shit makes you feel. It makes me wanna keep working. Damn okay I got this nice chain on, but this ain’t what I'm doing it for. This is something to make me feel good about what I'm doing.
