Shay Johnson is a lot of things, and reality television star is definitely at the top. Finding her way to Flavor of Love 2 via an ad on Craigslist, the Atlanta, Georgia native went from flyer girl in the ATL to a string of reality TV shows: Flavor of Love, Charm School, I Love Money, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, and now Love & Hip Hop: Miami.
But beyond all the entertainment, Shay is a huge health and fitness guru and educator, stemming from her own experiences with fibroids. Since then, she’s created her own brand The Healthy Hand, whose business has skyrocketed during quarantine and the COVID-19 pandemic.
King Ice caught up with Shay Johnson via Instagram Live to discuss her fashion, and go-to jewelry accessories.
How would you describe your fashion sense?
My fashion is cool. I’m always getting compliments on IG, so I must be doing a good damn job. Look at my white jacket with my orange… this is actually one of my workout bras. I look good today. This is the interview bra. One of my favorite designers is Versace. It’s something about Versace, the colors and the design, the Medusa sign… everything about Versace does something to me. My favorite designer hands down. After that, Balmain.
What are your go-to jewelry accessories?
I keep it simple. I have a jeweler in Atlanta, Georgia. By the way, this is not a marriage ring. [gestures to her ring] I’m going to get another one of them. Bling bling! I’ve got my Tom Ford glasses, I wanted to look like a nice, sexy teacher today. I think I pulled it off. I don’t go overboard. For the most part, I’m mediocre. I’m cute. I’m safe, conservative, sexy, classy.
Do you like gold or silver?
Both. I like silver for when I like silver, I like gold for when I like gold. My grandfather passed not too long ago, he had a 3-day funeral in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was a viewing on Saturday, the funeral on Sunday, the burial on Monday. Everyday, I wore Versace. Two days I wore gold, the last day I wore silver. It depends on my mood and what I’m wearing that day.
